At the end of last year, we released our family tile-laying game, Wispwood. If you’ve spotted those glowing tiles at some conventions or spotted some cats on social media but haven’t entered the forest and explored the magic of Wispwood, consider this your guided path through the forest.
What is Wispwood?
At its heart, Wispwood is a “cosy-crunchy” family tile-laying puzzle. You’ll draft glowing wisps to build your own personal forest grid.
The game is played over three rounds, with your grid expanding from a 4x4 to a 6x6 space. The catch? While the trees disappear between rounds, your wisps stay exactly where you put them. You aren't just playing for the current round, you’re planning for the future rounds. With each game, new goal cards redefine the wisps’ whims, ensuring your forest grows in a unique way every time.
Quick Recap of How to Play
We know you can read the whole rulebook, but before you decide to purchase the game, we’ve put together a quick recap. This shows what you can expect in the game–from drafting your wisp at the pond to using your Cat token.

What is the Community Saying?
Since its release, Wispwood has found its way onto the tables of reviewers and players. Here’s a look at what they are saying:
“Really makes you think differently than in a typical tile-placement game. It plays great solo, multiplayer, and I have really really enjoyed this one.”
The Board Game Garden
“For me, it’s definitely my style of puzzle game, and one that I have enjoyed at all player counts, 1 to 4.”
The Opinionated Gamers
“I’m not a fan of grabbing phones to do digital apps in board games, but it works really well. It’s really sweet and really simple and it doesn’t mean that the phone is being used during the game”
Gaming Rules!
“I was really charmed by this game and I didn’t expect to be. A really lovely looking game. The components are really good quality, the cats are adorable like their peeking behind the trees.”
Allie or Enemies
“It’s a lighter game, but it’s a very good one. The puzzle is fun and you can teach the rules in under five minutes”
