FAQ
Gameplay & The World of Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Q: What is Kingdom Come: Deliverance?
A:
- Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a critically acclaimed video game franchise, based on a historically accurate story set in 1403 Bohemia.
- Unlike traditional RPGs (Role-playing games), KCD features no fantasy elements but focuses on authenticity and player immersion. Players experience the humbling but tragic story of Henry of Skalitz, a young blacksmith's son, fighting to survive a bloody civil war and trying to carve out a better future for himself.
- The Kingdom Come: Deliverance board game is inspired by the world and stories of the first KCD video game, released in 2018. The video game has sold over 11 million copies worldwide and was followed by the successful Kingdom Come: Deliverance II sequel in 2025, earning multiple Game of the Year and Bafta nominations and awards.
Q: Is the board game cooperative or competitive?
A:
- While competitive, the game avoids direct conflict between players. There is no player-versus-player combat; instead, each player advances through their own accomplishments. You may even encounter other players at the same locations on the map, where sharing valuable experiences can help you overcome challenging skill tests.
- Ultimately, though, everyone is playing for themselves. At the end of the five days, the player with the most points earned through completing quests, progressing storylines, acquiring equipment, making connections, and more, will be declared the winner.
Q: What are the mechanics of the game?
A:
- The game combines mechanics like deck-building, hand management, quests, and area movement.
- You'll experience an epic adventure with eurogame elements. Develop your character over the course of several in-game days and nights.
- Acquire useful items. Make new friends. Gain experience points and spend them to choose new skill cards for your deck.
- Your deck consists of multi-use cards. Play them to perform various actions like hunting, stealing, fighting, picking herbs, and more. Use them to succeed in tests, or discard them for immediate bonuses and effects.
- Advance the diverse storylines and fulfill a number of side quests to get rewards. The game gives you a lot of freedom to become whoever you want to be — from a skilled archer to a cunning thief.
Q: Is this a continuous campaign game or a "one-shot" game?
A:
- It is a replayable, one-shot game. Each playthrough takes you on an epic journey from start to finish in a single session. You can choose from ten storylines spread across three cities, and mix and match them to create a unique experience every time you play.
- Once the five in-game days come to an end, that particular journey is over. The next time you set up the game, you start fresh as a common villager, ready to write a new story.
Q: Can I play as Henry, or can I choose other characters from the video game?
A:
No. You'll start as an ordinary citizen in 15th-century Bohemia, choosing from eight beautifully illustrated characters we've created specifically for the board game. However, you'll certainly cross paths with familiar faces from the Kingdom Come: Deliverance video game.
Q: Is an app required to play this game?
A:
No app required. You can look forward to an immersive, fully analog tabletop experience. No screens, just cardboard, cards, and great storylines.
Q: Can this game be played solo?
A:
Yes. The game fully supports solo play, allowing you to experience the story on your own.
Q: Do I need to know or have played the video game to enjoy the board game?
A:
Not at all! While fans of the video game will certainly appreciate the familiar characters, locations, or quests, no prior knowledge of the video game is required. If you're into thematic, epic adventures mixed with modern board game mechanics, this is a game for you!
Q: Is this the same Kingdom Come: Deliverance board game that was on Gamefound in 2022?
A:
No. This is a brand-new board game set in the Kingdom Come: Deliverance universe, created by a different company and built from the ground up. Designed by tabletop icons Tomáš Holek (SETI, Galileo Galilei) and Vlaada Chvátil (Mage Knight, Through the Ages, Codenames), and illustrated by an incredible team of artists, including several who worked on the video game series, it offers a completely fresh experience. Every component has been thoughtfully designed to provide the best possible experience.
Q: Is this a crowdfunding campaign? How do I know the project is secure?
A:
No, you are pre-ordering the game directly from the publisher. The game will launch regardless of pre-order numbers. Pre-orders help us adjust production quantities to ensure we have enough copies to meet the demand.

Q: Will this game be available in retail?
A:
We certainly hope so; however, we don't have a final timeline for when exactly this will happen. This board game is the largest and most complicated we've ever produced, and we won't be able to manufacture and assemble large quantities fast. We also don't know what to anticipate in terms of the demand. If you want to play this game sooner rather than later, we strongly recommend you pre-order through us.
Pre-orders
Q: How long is the pre-order period?
A:
The pre-orders will be open from July 1st to August 16th, 2026. However, we are running pre-orders in waves to ensure that we can meet the demand. If we reach the limit of the first wave sooner, the pre-orders will be temporarily closed and reopened once we know the estimated arrival of the copies that will be produced later. So, for that reason as well, we recommend pre-ordering the game while the stock lasts.
Q: If I don't pre-order the game, will I be able to get it later?
A:
- While this first production run is limited, you don't need to worry — we plan to make more! However, ordering during the first wave guarantees you will receive your copy from the initial batch.
- First wave: The number of copies is limited. Secure your copy during the initial pre-order window to guarantee your game is printed and shipped in the first wave.
- Other waves: Once we reach the limit on the first wave, we'll temporarily pause the pre-orders. After we assess the production timeline, we will reopen the pre-orders for later waves that will be produced and dispatched at a later date.
Q: Can I get the game at SPIEL Essen 2026?
A:
Technically yes, but be sure to get there as soon as possible to secure the copy because we'll have limited stock. We expect that the game might sell out on day one.
Q: Can I pre-order the game and pick it up at SPIEL Essen 2026?
A:
Yes! This is actually the best option for you if you're going to SPIEL. If you order during the 1st wave, you can select "Essen Pick-up" at checkout. This guarantees that your copy will be waiting for you at our booth, making you one of the very first people in the world to take it home.
Q: When can I expect to receive my game?
A:
-
First wave:
- Customers who pre-ordered from our EU-based store: We're planning on shipping around SPIEL Essen 2026 (October 2026).
- Canadian customers: We ship Canadian orders directly from our warehouse in the Czech Republic. These copies will be shipped around SPIEL Essen, with the delivery in Q4 2026 or Q1 2027.
- Customers who pre-ordered from our US-based store: We're hoping to dispatch the pre-orders in Q1 2027 (final timeline depends on how long it will take for the stock shipment to travel from the EU to the US).
- Other waves: Production capacity is limited. If you want to be informed when exactly you'll receive your game, we highly recommend that you subscribe to our newsletter.
